Burlap & Butterfly

Hello, Sunday crafters!  It's a chilly, gloomy day here so
I thought I'd share with you my latest creation,
Burlap & Butterfly for Xyron, Inc.
www.xyron.com

One of my favorite color combinations is red and some variation of blue...
whether it be turquoise, teal or aqua, I love them paired with red!
I started with a 4"X4" white canvas block...like painters use...
along with a 6.5"X6.5" piece of burlap by Prima Marketing

For whatever size canvas that you use, just make sure to cut the burlap long
and wide enough to cover the sides.

Next, I placed the burlap onto my 9" Creative Station and ran it through.
Now one side is coated with a permanent adhesive.
**Leave the backing on the burlap**

I created a stitching grid by placing a square die onto the center
of the burlap...or use whatever square material you have on hand...
trace lightly with a pencil or fabric marker.

Following the grid lines, I machine-stitched two patterns onto the burlap...one
in red and one in a light turquoise.

Next, you will want to carefully peel away the adhesive backing.
I used an Xacto knife to score the backing.  It's not necessary to get into all of
the nooks and crannies, basically remove as much of the paper as possible.

Center the piece over the front of the canvas and press into place.
Cut the edges and notch out one corner of each side; fold the burlap around
and press into place.

I took my design one step further and decorated the edge with pom pom trim
and a 1.5" ribbon from May Arts.  The sweet felt butterfly is from Curtsey Boutique.

Using a permanent adhesive and the Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker, I ran my
length of ribbon through and then adhered it to the outer edge of the canvas.
In finishing, I tied a large bow from the same ribbon and glued in place on the top!
I just love the way it turned out...a quick and simple gift if needed too!

I have quite a few photos to share, so I'll leave most of them in a  smaller size.  Just click on each one to enlarge.
My vision for the album was to mix 'n match  Handmade Holiday, SN@P and Year.O.Graphy I wanted bright colors mixed in with more shabby-distressed look that Simple Stories is known for.    For the cover, I took a bright Turquoise Dot SN@P paper and a strip from Year.O.Graphy and stitched them together.  The title is a compilation of  sevearl SN@P sticker elements.
