Defending champions Liaoning Flying Leopards secured the top place of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league standings by smashing the Jilin Northeast Tigers 119-97 on Wednesday.
Six Liaoning players scored in double digits, led by Kyle Fogg's 27 points. Fu Hao added 19 points and 8 rebounds. Quentin Peterson had 27 points for Jilin.
It is Yang Ming's first game since he returned to Liaoning's head coach position during the break. "Back to the familiar field, I want to express my gratitude to all the players and fans," Yang said that he would make sufficient preparation for the coming games.
The Jiangsu Dragons ended their 17-game losing streak as they beat the Guangzhou Loong Lions 102-100.
Jiangsu led the game 84-66 at the end of the third quarter, but the 3-pointer shots from Cui Yongxi and Zhu Mingzhen helped Guangzhou even the game 100-100 in the last seconds. Jiangsu denied the reverse of the game, as Jiang Haoran scored inside the paint in the last moment.
"It was a tough but timely win. We need it badly. We will strengthen our physical confrontation, hoping to perform better in the next games," Jiangsu's head coach Yi Li said.
