When reports of a knife-wielding man going on the rampage through east London came through on Tuesday morning officers from the Metropolitan Police leapt into action.
Dozens of officers, both armed and unarmed, descended on Hainault shortly before 7am in a bid to find and disarm the suspect as quickly as possible after a teenage boy was tragically killed and two members of the public wounded.
What followed was a deadly game of cat and mouse, with brave police chasing after the sword-wielding suspect as he scaled rooftops and vaulted fences in a bid to escape.
In the process two officers were seriously injured, before a brave female colleague, armed only with her Taser, cornered the suspect outside a garage in a nearby street.
Dramatic footage captured the moment the heroic cop stared down the man, before Tasering him along with her fellow officers as as gun-wielding police arrived on the scene, bringing an end to the rampage.
