Traffic is expected to be chock-a-block across the country as holidaymakers begin their journeys for Easter weekend.
It's been a frustrating start to the long weekend for motorists leaving Auckland today, with numerous crashes throughout the day.
In the latest, two city-bound lanes are blocked after a collision on State Highway 16, the Northwestrn Motorway, near Grey Lynn.
One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Motorists are being advised to expect delays and should avoid the area if possible.
